Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer-songwriter hailing from British Colombia. She burst onto the music scene after finishing third in the fifth season of Canadian Idol.

Following her stint on Canadian Idol, she took part in the Canadian Idol Top 3 tour and was signed to Fontana and Maple Music. On Canadian Idol she performed songs such as I Try by Macy Gray, Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae and Waiting In Vain by Bob Marley & The Wailers.

Jepsen’s debut album, Tug Of War, was released in September 2008. The album included a cover of the John Denver song, Sunshine On My Shoulders.

In 2011, Jepsen, who was born in 1985, released a single called Call Me Maybe, followed by the album Curiosity in 2012. Call Me Maybe was a hit, especially in Canada where it received significant airplay. The song got to number one on the Canadian Hot 100 and also reached the top spot in Australia, Ireland and the UK. It also got into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Jepsen released the lead single, I Really Like You, from her third album in March 2015, accompanied by a music video featuring Tom Hanks. The album, emotion, is set to be released in August in the US.

Jepsen made her first appearance on American TV in March 2012, when she performed Call Me Maybe on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and was later joined by Justin Bieber on the program.
