Eat This With Your Ears - The Way

I awoke with
A name on
The tip of my tongue
It easily escaped me
It made me feel less alone
Now it haunts me
And leads me
Towards something I can't see
My hands stretched out in the hopes that
They'll land on anything
And
Now
The pain's gone
But I still feel broke
The feeling's fading but
I
Still
Feel the ghost
Of where the splint was
I have dreams
Where my words are nothing but poetry
The structure and form come out ever so flawlessly
With beauty and style and grace my tongue floats like a hummingbird
Easily balanced and poised
Are every meter and verb
But when the sun rises and washes the darkness away
With it the a memories of sonnets I've written just don't ever stay
And I can never find something to say that feels similar to what I think of
Before night turns to day
And I've tried so many times
To find the perfect rhyme
Nothing ever comes out right
I'm just feeling so contrite
Will I ever find a way
To form words so seamlessly
Can I fill the empty page
With something more than space
