Brooke Ashton - The Plan

An old man wore a white beard
A golden cross draped around his neck
Every morning for the past forty years
He puts on a cloak, the color of death

He counts the tears of a mother as she buries her child
She cries all my life I've tried to do what's right
And this is what I get
No I won't forget

Ooooo we've seen it yet again
We cry, we sigh, and we ask God why
And when's it gonna end?

He's got black boots tied tightly
A flag sewn upon his chest
Oh he's barely a man
He's fighting in a foreign land and he wears it proudly
With a bullet proof vest

The war cries are gettin louder
The soldier bows his head
Oh Lord forgive me for, and please save my soul
They found him dead, with a Bible in his hand

Ooooo, it happened yet again
We cry, we sigh, and we ask God Why?
And when's it gonna end?

That Devil he's a sly one
He's holding out his hands
He cries out God why don't you save them if you can?
If you can

And all the heros and the heathens
They're echoing the call
They cry out God send us an angel
We need a miracle

Oooooo I can't help but shake my head
I cry, I sigh, and I try to understand
That it's all part of a Plan
