Yanniv Frank - Gesture From A Stranger

Friday night writing what I have to say
Always felt I wasn't going the right way
I was an imposter
A fraud playing an old tune
But she called to me and she praised me
Weight floated away like a red balloon
Couldn't understand how she could appreciate
Anything I could offer
How a stranger could relate
But she smiled at me and she gave me a hand
She claimed I had a gift
I heard her words and I listened
As my mindset began to shift
I started to sing the kind of music that I know
Hands shaking on guitar strings as the crowd started to grow
I wasn't a copy of the people who write the songs that play in my head lying awake every night
It was a gesture from a stranger
Made me feel like I wasn't in danger anymore
Holding me tight
Making me feel like someone wanted to hear my light
Sunday was my fault, I knew I was in the wrong
But he stepped out of the car collected and so calm
Treated me like a brother
Didn't raise his voice
Asked me how I would right my wrong
A chance to make a choice
I would understand if he hated me just like that
If he took this stranger's dignity and refused to give it back
But he smiled at me and he reached out his hand then he went about his day
Minor interruption
Compassion to stay
I started to hum the kind of music that I know
Breath shaking in a sigh of relief as my soul started to glow
It wasn't a copy of the people who fight
With the good of the earth throwing stones every night
It was a gesture from a stranger
Made me feel like I wasn't in danger anymore
Holding me tight
Making me feel like he was willing share his light
Is it just that my standards are so low
That hateful people are what I've come to know
Or could it be there's naturally a common human soul
Where every person shares their light to make each other whole
So now I'll start to play a kind of music from inside
Hands dancing on a piano
With a freedom they can't hide
This song is for me, and this song is for you
Whoever you are and whatever your truth
Hear this gesture from a stranger
So I can tell you you aren't in danger anymore
I'm holding you tight
I know that it's dark, but I promise to share my light
I promise to share my light
Do you promise to share your light
