No Justice, No Peace - Golden Gulag (feat. Keith Rogers)

Surplus and crisis are two sides of the same coin
Surplus land and surplus people
Surplus capital and state capacity
Present political, economic problems
In a model based on scarcity
And prison is a partial “solution”
But prisons wear out places by wearing out people and
The prison is everywhere
Not a building “over there”
But a set of relationships that undermine
Rather than stabilize
Everyday lives everywhere
On our highways
In our water
At our doctor’s offices
In our children’s schools
Only 3 or 2 need be removed
From any given community
For the creative destruction of
The welfare-warfare state
To reign
So how do we fight back?
Organize
Empower
Educate
We get on the bus because of our sameness
Dream riders, summoned by a nightmare
And we fight
For our families, our communities, and our lives
This is what class politics should be,
In contradiction to the Golden Gulag’s
Prison-lit but starless night
