K-Proetic - Illtown Chronicles
Uh, Jerz
From Illtown to your town
This for the city, Oh yeah
Let me talk my talk
On the corner of Springdale and Brighton ave
Waiting for that 34, see it coming and flying past
Flag it down, pay the $2.25, head right to class
Just to rush back, get home and hit the Triton fast
And these my Illtown Chronicles
The urban life made a man of me, made me logical
Was gang infested and the presence was unstoppable
Now these cops swarming and follow wherever I would go
Harris Diner and Sandwiches where we chill and eat
Hearing bout that Harp Middle A and B building beef
And I ain't go to school in the town
We out early, I gotta deal with Truancy now
And with the bars, we were so so nice
I was still always tryna get my Pro flow right
Playing manhunt, we own those nights
Watch for po-po lights
Another day another almost fight
And these my Illtown Chronicles, always ballin up at Soveral Park
The Pop Warner competitions had the park buzzing
And I ain't like ballin with other niggaz, I always brought cousins
One of which caught beef everyday cause his height
And back then I wasn't aiming to fight
'Til this nigga got fed up and looked me straight in the eye
Saying please nigga ride for one day in your life
That good ol' Doddtown
I walk to Main street cop down
I remember the Vault was the best place shop 'round
Now it's a new spot now
Before Bacardi Gold and a fifth a Henny
We were sipping that Sco and MD 20/20
And after that it was Uncle Pauly
I ain't tryna get into all the stories about when we were saucy
And these my Illtown Chronicles, 2 am walks for a late session
Get to Central Ave safe, work hard, and spend the day resting
All in all it was a great blessing
Performing at Bogies on a random night
Just tryna build this brand of mine
They turned Upsala to Campus High
The best egg and cheese spot was on Springdale and Lincoln, I can't deny
Peace to Naughty, Queen La, and Chino XL
Dionne Warwick, Naturi Naughton and Lauryn Hill
To the city, y'all still relevant
To all 65,000 residents
It was Newark Mountains after the settlement
But Beast Orange is a better fit
Every weekend, every summer, we would see the fam
The balance of Roselle and EO made me that decent man
Illtown was the family and church life
Made my first demo, this the city I'd first write
Every single verse, was always spitting my written fast
Shout out to Springdale, Burchard, and Whitman Ave
And when I pass, every memory is coming with me
On everything brah I love this city
And we goin get that street named after my grandfather, cause we bout that
And we buying my grandparents house back
My Illtown chronicles
