Glenmerle - Spelunking

My descent into the cave
Had been delayed
By years of proxy revelation
Convictions all relayed
All the light below the
Surface was manmade
And all I knew began to
Quiver as soon as I belayed
Down into the darkness

It takes courage to dig down deep
To wrestle God through the night
And it gets harder to stand back up
When you can't see the morning light

Looking back I must have
Been out of my mind
Spelunking into darkness
Thinking I could find a brighter light
When I came up again
I found myself surprised
Relieved to see the sun had
Never lost a bit of shine
Blinded by its brightness

It takes courage to dig down deep
To wrestle God through the night
And it gets harder to stand back up
When you can't see the morning light

We all must cross into the dark
But don't be afraid
It's not too far not too late to start
You have what it takes
You may get lost you may get scarred
But you'll find your way back out
As long as you don't stop moving

It takes courage to dig down deep
To wrestle God through the night
But it takes more just to stand back up
And limp into the morning light

To drop the answers
That you have rehearsed
And let your wound be
A gift and not a curse
