Kevin Muller - Orion's Belt

A hunter has his weapons and the sharpest one is time
Waiting long as patience will allow
Orion set out thinking he would fell each living soul
Until the scorpion came to take his toll
A lighted pattern framing one who died
The fallen and his killer side by side

When at last the glistening gemstones of Orion's Belt fade
And the sun's tremendous heart finally eclipses into shade
When the deepest of the molten rock is cooled against the sky
And the bravest waterfalls are ever quiet
Will the first time that you said the words still echo far away?
Will the breath with which you spoke them now traverse the Milky Way?
Will the energy that I could not contain with that first knock upon your door
Survive impermanence forevermore?
It seems so clear to me that something's changed
An atom that began to spin, propelled by how it felt to say your name

Each one of us a mystery that the other longs to know
A path inside a labyrinth we designed
A sun that's always setting lays its amber on the gray
But I've been told that nothing gold can stay

When at last the glistening gemstones of Orion's Belt fade
And the sun's tremendous heart finally eclipses into shade
When the deepest of the molten rock is cooled against the sky
And the bravest waterfalls are ever quiet
Will the first time that you said the words still echo far away?
Will the breath with which you spoke them now traverse the Milky Way?
Will the energy that I could not contain with that first knock upon your door
Survive impermanence forevermore?
It seems so clear to me that something's changed
An atom that began to spin, propelled by how it felt to say your name

When at last the theater screen goes black and the film reel is wound back
I suppose the part we played was pretty small
Uncredited and missing from the final curtain call
But it was pretty cool we got to stand beneath Orion's Belt at all
