Grandmaster Z - Writing a Story

It's time that I teach you of a type of writing
It's called narrative, yes, it's exciting
It opens a world where you get to be creative
Come on in, it's the place where I live
Now listen up, there are three types
Imaginative, nonfiction, personal, listen to the hype
I love this kind of writing cuz it paints a visual
In fact, I would say it's formidable
Let's start with imaginative, this one's made up
That's called fiction, please don't interrupt
Add some detail and dialogue to paint a picture
Make that descriptive, and you'll have the perfect mixture
Don't forget a beginning, middle, and end
Those three things are your very best friends
You can write in first person, "I" or "we"
You can write in second person, "you", not me
You can write in third person, "he", "she", "it", or "they"
It doesn't matter, put your story on display
I write fiction a lot, I have stories in my head
So I wrote one all down and wanted it to be read
I worked on it till I published it myself
Now it sits right there on the digital bookshelf
Fiction is great, it's my favorite type of story
What can I say? This is my territory

Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory
Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory
Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory
Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory

It's time to move on to the next type
Nonfiction, that's a true story, am I right?
It's based on real people and events
It could be a story of an American president
Make sure you still have details and dialogue
Descriptive words help readers break through the fog
Remember that this story is based on facts
It's not made up, do your research in all caps
Write in third person, do not forget
A beginning, middle, and end, then the stage will be set
Any questions? If not, let's keep moving
If there are, stop, rewind till it's not confusing
The last type we have is personal
A true story 'bout you, but don't make it dull
Write about a problem you had to solve
Details and dialogue help your story not to fall
Write in first person, introduce the message
Beginning, middle, and end should always be your pledge
Tie it back to the message of the story you told
And when it's finished, shout "Lo and behold!"
Now you know all about narrative writing
I hope that I have made it sound inviting
Writing a story is fun, now pick up your pencil
Try it for yourself, every story has potential

Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory
Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory
Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory
Listen up, let's write a story
We'll work hard and in it, we'll glory
