Ashqelon Quilt - One by One

I plant my thought in wood and steel
And substance gains my mind
With creaking wheels and rusty nails
With acid tubes and pipes and rails
I face the world with alchemy
There's one of it and five of me

Then one by one I start to run
And leave myself behind
With sketchy graphs of things to be
And scientific formulae
When autumn clouds obscure by bliss
"Oh, what's the use of all of this?"

I have to find my primary mind
I'm sure I had it once
The sand is hot, the air is free
My shadow flies above the sea
I have my role, I know my goal
You've made me high
You took my soul
