Echo's Bones - Burden

The smell of roasting fills the air around this table
Saccharine and sickly, like the decaying of my mind
I've come to know a living that is death in itself
Forcing others to end their breathing
I'd give anything to know fear
To feel the cold of dawnbreak
To have another here with me
That could leave with the morning light

But I can only stand and watch them
As drops of rain pass through my shadow
My existence is a prison
And my jailer is time itself

I have racked my brain for answers and nothing satisfies
I score the soundtrack of my footsteps
And misery is my drumbeat
My charge is to defy them
Whoever they may be
To build a castle out of sand here
While a hurricane roars
And so I know you have a burden
I would never have wished it on you
But never look to me for pity
I'd trade it all for your endless void

But this is my burden to carry
I would never wish it on you
My own designer tailored Sheol
That is my fate
