J'ray - Window Pane

Wake up
It'll be an ordinary day
Roll out of bed and then get on my way
Second story, bedroom window pane
Seems outside the stormy clouds have gone away?

And I look out across, and I see your face
Nobody told me you were movin' in today
Maybe those stormy clouds, just got in the way
A sense of panic forms upon my face
but I muster up the courage
Two taps, on my second story window pane
Just like I've done before, to check if anyone can see me from the outside world
I'm here. Can you still hear me?
Or will you look up and then away like those before?

You looked up
Tapped back twice an your second story window pane
You seemed happier to see me,
Than I was to see you
You gave me a goofy little smile that just lit up your face
Tossed a tin can with some string over across the way

Then I caught it, right outside my second story window pane
You told me your name and I told you mine
I could've stayed up all night until the sun would rise
Cuz when we talked you'd just fill me with light
To me it's just crazy
You weren't like the other ones
Who'd leave me after I'd tapped twice
On my second, story window pane
You trusted me, and I trusted you.

I wake up
It wouldn't be an ordinary day
Repeat the same things I'd done for a few months now
Tap twice, on my second story window pane
Pick up that tin can with string stretching across the way

But something, was a little different this day
That goofy smile that lit up your face had gone away
Days passed, The distance between grew more and more
Our string was pulled apart,
And snapped!
Guess this is how it ends
See the stormy clouds rollin' in.
You leave the window and don't come back
It's the same as before
It's the same as before
I won't go back
To that second story window pane
I'll wake up to an ordinary day
