Robbie Breese - Cheers

He raises a glass to an empty room
Alone with his thoughts, flaws and doubts too
Deadlines hang broken from the stars and the moon
He doesn't care, doesn't know what to do
Midnight comes and goes
Like an old friend, lays a hand on his shoulder
He barely notices, his only focus is
To keep hanging on, and see how it goes

Though he knows he won't find happiness like before
If everything stays exactly the same forevermore

"Cheers," he says, sitting alone
"Cheers all around, it's all coming undone"
He sighs as he leans back, resting his head
"If all good things must come to an end
Then cheers to the good times, the bad times, the loss
Cheers to it all, keep soldiering forth"
What once lived and thrived has withered and died
But sometimes a change is needed in life

His eyes burn from sleepless nights
Spent desperately trying and trying
To put music to the thoughts in his mind
When he ought to slow down and rest for a while
He means to clean out the flowerbeds
But says to himself, "Tomorrow instead"
They're not his alone, another hand was involved
But when the hand gave him roses, he was pricked by the thorns

And he can't seem to forget the scars
Despite all the love, he wants to move on

"Cheers," he says, sitting alone
"Cheers all around, it's all coming undone"
He sighs as he leans back, resting his head
"If all good things must come to an end
Then cheers to the good times, the bad times, the loss
Cheers to it all, keep soldiering forth"
His heart is made heavy by the weight of his words
The end of an era, the birth of a world

His trust betrayed, his heart's afraid to do what must be done
To bid farewell to his love and never return

"Cheers," he says, sitting alone
"Cheers all around, it's all coming undone"
He sighs as he leans back, resting his head
"If all good things must come to an end
Then cheers to the good times, the bad times, the loss
Cheers to it all, keep soldiering forth"
His head and his heart shake hands and agree
That it was bound to happen eventually
