Hennest - Introduction to Hennest

Moved around quite a bit, new was always the fixed
Naturally I was set apart, school at home as a kid
Everything seemed not a fit, I was throwing a lot of fits
I became so sick of it I hated being so different
Later on as time went, it wasn't how I envisioned it
Life wasn't giving me the chalk but I still had to get a grip
Knew a change was overdue, I seemed so far adrift
Thought it depended on where I lived, but the change happens from within

Thought I could pick up a pad and a pen
And learn how to write all to show off my wit
Thought I could make it to greatness and then
I would show everybody I'm better than them
Thought I could live it like nobody did it
And brag in your face about all of my gifts
That might just happen to me in the end
Unless I be living and dying for him
Lord, give me the strength to keep going
The moments are cold and they're holding me down
I'm like how could you do this or how could you do that
I'm needing your counsel whenever I doubt
Am I living a lie? Shouting and shaking my fist and I cry
Into the sky, God I'm in need of a sign
And why did you make us to fall we're living to die
But why these thoughts keep coming in my mind
I try to escape like I'm running for my life
Sometimes in the mirror I shutter at the site
Because I'm wondering who I'm becoming more like
Do I kneel and conform to the ways of the world
Or am I really trying to be someone like Christ
Am I drawn to the truth or do I care more
What people all say when there's summing up my life

Fighting my demons I'm trying to keep them held down
When I'm speaking things out of my mouth
But I can't all the time I'll be sitting there thinking
A thought in my head then its said out aloud
And I'm looking secure but I'm kind of uneasy
Will we disagree when the album is out
But I can't make sure that we're all in agreement
On topics I know I was led to announce
Writing this project, I'm trying to honestly
Give it one hundred and all that I got
And I'll pace in my room for as long as it takes
When I get it just right I bring glory to God
And I won't take a jab from somebody that
I wouldn't approach to give me advice
I'm here at the bottom I look at the top
And I look at my life I'm ready to climb
