Mitch Gundrum - Unwind

Move to a city where the season's always autumn
On a birthday
Lose someone pretty got you grievin' that you caught em
In the first place
I justify it to myself: if I were wealthy I could make all of my visions a reality,
But in reality
I, my writing brain eschew and haven't got the faintest clue why

I turn the pages of a notebook that has aged so well it hurts:
It hasn't gained a word in years
In fact, my most frequented venue's got a menu meant for
Beveragingly leveraging your fears
And when I set to drinking, get myself to thinking inking
Just a line or two would bring me peace
But I come to curse the cursive, words fail to curtail the hurtin' in the least

That's why right now, my mouth, just won't speak
I put my head down, zone out, the pen don't leak
I've got a classic case of had it up to here
My eyes are glassy but I'm just not seeing clear
And you're always on my mind, but tonight I need to unwind

It's for my betterment, and I ain't had a better friend than you
You help this fool escape his brains
And it's lovely weather, man, but I'll still end up wet again
When I drown the whirling pool in paper planes
If I could only wrap my mind around a single point of binding
I'd have writings abound to you
Getting trounced instead by rhymes bouncing around inside
And trying to make em sound true

And I flounder, so right now, my pen lies still
The burning and doubt turn me inside out; apprehend my will
Potential, existential mission to be led
And I'd have the will to fight if I were kissing you instead
But tonight I fall behind, think it's better if I unwind

Right now, I'm out, and in too deep
Better call a ride 'round, lie down, and drift to sleep
And maybe once I wake up
I'll have a different make up
And I can get away from
All of my past mistakes and
Pass out beside the fountain
And come to somewhere down the line

Please excuse my predilection
The conscious stream ensue
I'm in a key position
Hoping to see it through
And you would give this beat a listen
If I could keep from missing you
