Britney Spears

Britney Spears Lyrics and Profile

Signing with Jive Records in 1997 at the tender age of sixteen, Britney Spears rapidly became a notorious figure within the music industry and across popular culture. 1999 saw the release of debut album …Baby One More Time, which went straight to number one across the world and one year later, second album Oops!…I Did It Again became the best-selling album by a teenage artist.

Spears enjoyed chart-topping success with her third and fourth albums, Britney and In The Zone, with the latter seeing the singer take full creative control, which eventually yielded top ten hits Me Against the Music – a collaboration with Madonna – Toxic and Everytime.

The singer’s personal life and struggles clouded her music career, for it wasn’t until a few years later that the princess of pop released any new material. Blackout proved to be another global success, contributing Gimme More and Piece of Me to the music charts.

Despite controversy surrounding her mental state and personal life, in 2009 Spears released sixth chart-topping album Circus and took the concept on tour with her, which turned out to be the highest-grossing global concert of the year. Seventh studio album, Femme Fatal did not show any signs of Spears' popularity weakening, and became her first to produce three top-ten singles in the US.

Whilst branching out with her interests, Britney Spears featured as a judge on American talent show The X Factor USA which saw her mentor eventual runner-up, Carly Rose Nomenclature. Shortly after guiding the teen to The X Factor final, Spears teamed up with music producer will.i.am for track Scream & Shout, which became the singer’s sixth number one on the UK Singles Charts.

Her eighth studio album, Britney Jean, produced one of pop's most recent hits, Work Bitch. The song proved a hit across the world, and for many, the greatest addition to their workout soundtrack. Since December 2013, Spears has been regularly performing her Britney: Piece of Me residency show in Las Vegas for audiences eager to see the popstar doing what she does best: entertaining.
